A Magnificent View
This
background picture was taken from the deck of NightSkies Victoria
Ocean-Front Bed and Breakfast. It is representative of what is visible
looking out from the breakfast table, living room or fireside bedroom
windows of our home. The photo was taken without magnification using a
35mm SLR camera.
The
body of water in the immediate foreground is the Esquimalt Lagoon, a
salt water lagoon which opens to the ocean on the left of this picture
(not visible here).
The
spit of land stretching horizontally along the centre of this picture
is called the Cobourg Penninsula, and it separates the lagoon
from Esquimalt Harbour entrance sometimes called Royal Bay. "The Spit"
is an excellent place to go for a walk almost any time, and is either a
15 minute walk or a three minute drive from NightSkies.
On
the horizon to the left you can see two of the cranes at Esquimalt
Harbour. At the horizon centre is the Esquimalt Naval Base called
Naden. The right horizon is the city of Victoria.
